Quick and Easy Recipe for Soft Homemade Playdough

playdough recipe

Kaylie and I are in love with this playdough. It is so soft. It already seems like it doesn't get hard and crusty fast like the playdough from the store. It was so easy and quick to make. You'll have all the ingredients on hand too!

1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon cream of tarter
1/6 cup salt
1/2 cup water
1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil or canola oil
Food Coloring

This recipe makes about the same amount of play dough that comes in the yellow cups at the store. We made 3 individual batches of this recipe.

Throw all the ingredients plus as much food coloring as you want in a large pot/saucepan. Mix together. Put over medium heat and stir, stir stir. Try and get clumps out, but don't worry about it too much the little clumps will come out when you play with it.

When it starts to ball up and isn't translucent looking take out of pot and let cool. I just took it out when it looked like the playdough you buy at the store.  It took about 2 minutes for mine to look ready, yours may be faster.

Once cooled. PLAY!

I stored the playdough in individual ziploc bags and put the all in a tupperware bowl together.
